The Oak Leaf by Lynn Sanders

Lynn believes that there should be mystery within each piece and that most interesting part of art is intrigue and a curiosity about the artists process. Lynn’s painting process is reflective of her current emotions. She has created a custom tool that allows her to impulsively apply paints, stains, inks, and glazes to the canvas at a pace that reflects her impatient nature. Lynn’s satisfaction comes from knowing her paintings speak her own unique visual language.

FROM THE ARTIST

While my paintings are often recognized for their bold color and energetic compositions, these pieces explore what happens when the palette is reduced to its essentials.

Working in layers of black, warm browns, soft beiges, and white allowed me to focus on texture, movement, and the subtle relationships between light and shadows. The inspiration was weathered stone, aged plaster, natural fibers, and the patina of time - which is what I think of when I think of Tara Shaw’s aesthetic.
